Walter M. Van Meter

Walter M. Van Meter Jr., 79, Raytown, MO, passed away June 6, 1998, at Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services will be 9 a.m. Tuesday, June 9, at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Floral Hills Chapel, Kansas City, MO; burial in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6:30-8 p.m. Monday at the chapel. The family suggests memorial contributions to Southview Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.

Mr. Van Meter lived in Higginsville, MO, until 1952, when the family moved to the Kansas City area. He was a member of Southview Baptist Church, Raytown. He retired from Data Essentials in 1998, after 52 years in the office/stationery business. He was an Army veteran.

His survivors include his wife of 55 years, Margery Jean, of the home; son, Mark, Raytown, MO; four daughters, Linda King, San Diego, CA, Sherri Wilcox, San Angelo, TX, Julie Robertson, Maryland Heights, MO, and Lisa Gardner, Fenton, MO; and six grandchildren.
