Verial V. VanMeter

Age 75 of Nashville, passed away at Baptist Hospital of heart failure on March 24, 2006.The son of Lela Marie VanMeter, who survives, and the late Melvin VanMeter, he was born February 23, 1931 in Carrier Mills, IL. Mr. VanMeter served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He moved to Nashville in 1959, was a salesman with Nashville Steel Company and later formed the companies, VanMeter Steel, Inc. and Cumberland Valley Metals. An avid hunter and outdoorsman, he was a noted marksman and Lifetime Member of the National Rifle Association. He is survived by a sister, Vera (Mrs. Frank) Blackman of Norris City, IL; daughter, Debra (Mrs. Jeff) Wolford of Chattanooga; son, Randall V. VanMeter of Lighthouse Point, FL and grandsons, Randy, Bill and Dale VanMeter, also of Lighthouse Point. Mr. VanMeter is survived by his wife of 31 years, Charlotte Kinnard VanMeter; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Philip (Cliffie) Kinnard; brothers-in-law, P. Stephen Kinnard, Randall L. Kinnard and David J. Kinnard; sister-in-law, Becky (Mrs. Chris) Ross. A 32nd degree Mason, Mr. VanMeter will receive Masonic Rites at graveside services at Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills, IL. Date to be determined.
