Thelma Oneta VanMeter

HAMPTON - Thelma Oneta VanMeter, 85, resident of Hilton Plaza, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 1998, at Riverside Regional Medical Center, after a short illness.

Born in Wayne County, W.Va., she had been a Hampton resident since 1943, where she was a member of Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Hampton Roads.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Eugene VanMeter, her parents, three sisters and four brothers.

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Wayne Limpus; two grandchildren, Sherrie Mincks and Janine Jones; four great-grandchildren, Nicole Jones and Tina, Lorie and Bo Mincks; two sisters, Ruth Christian of Lexington, Ky., and Virginia O'Brien of Mesa, Ariz.

A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17, in Hampton National Cemetery, Hampton section, by Pastor Tom Boggess. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home.
