Shirley Margaret Van Meter

Shirley Margaret Van Meter Biglieri passed away Sunday, May 27, 2001 at her Reno home surrounded by her husband and daughters. She was born November 27, 1928 in Bakersfield, California to Vera Ella (Trimmell) and Joseph Bush Van Meter. Her family settled in the Truckee Meadows before Nevada became a state. She married her Reno High School sweetheart Clyde Biglieri in Reno on June 17, 1950. Shirley was a 1947 graduate of Reno High School and a member of the University of Nevada Alumni Association along with being a past president of Gamma Phi Beta Sorority Alumni. She was a member of Saint Luke's Lutheran church, proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames Seventeenth Century, Huguenot Society, and a direct descendant of the Emperor Charlamagne. She served for many years as membership chairperson of the Senior Ballroom Dance Club of Nevada. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents a sister, Thelma Guffrey and a brother, Richard Margrave. In addition to her husband of 51 years, she is survived by daughters, Carol Zaval, Sally Loux, Maribeth Segale and Nancy Medeiros grandchildren, Stacey Moore, Jeremy Zaval, Marissa and Hayley Medeiros, Andrew Segale, Ryan and Julie Loux, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 31, 2001, from noon to 4:30 pm at Walton's Funeral Home, 875 W. 2nd Street in Reno. Services will be held on Friday, June 1, 2001 at 11:00 am at Saint Luke's Lutheran Church, 3835 Lakeside Drive, Reno. Donations may be made in Shirley's memory to any favorite charity of choice.
