Ronald D. Van Meter
Ronald D. Van Meter, 74, Fort Wayne, died at 8:29 p.m. Sunday (Nov. 18, 2007)
at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Mr. Van Meter was a 41-year employee of the Kmart Distribution Center in Fort
Wayne, retiring in October 1992. He was a former member of the Zanesville Lions
Club and was a life member of American Legion Post 241 in Waynedale. He was a
1951 graduate of Ossian High School and was a member of the Nine Mile United
Methodist Church.
He was born Aug. 8, 1933, in Huntington, to Archie D. and Leona C. Wiesjahn Van
Meter. He married Evelyn M. Houshoulder Oct. 12, 1957, in Yoder. She survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Kerry D. Van Meter of Ossian and Jon K. Van Meter
of Fort Wayne; six grandchildren; and a brother, Darol B. Van Meter of Ossian.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Jacqueline Hartley, and a brother, Jerry
Van Meter.
Calling is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday at the
Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee St., Markle. Services will be held
at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Wednesday with Pastor Shalimar Holderly
officiating.
Burial will be at Star of Hope Cemetery.
Preferred memorials are to the Nine Mile United Methodist Church in care of
Myers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 403, Markle, IN 46770.
