Paul E. Van Meter

Paul E. Van Meter, 63, of Fairlawn, died Aug. 13 at Akron General Medical Center.

Paul was born in Columbus, and had been a resident of the Akron area for 45 years. He served in the U.S. Navy on the submarine U.S.S. Pike during World War II, and was a member of the Firestone V.F.W. Post No. 3383.

He is survived by children, Paula Bray and Rodney A. Van Meter, both of Virginia Beach, Va., Michael J. Van Meter, Deborah A. Van Meter; former wife, Anna K. Van Meter, all of Akron; sisters, Ethel Schuman of London, Ohio, Becky Herron of Columbus, Erma Taylor of Columbus; brothers, Jack of San Bernardino, Calif. and Bud of Columbus; stepdaughters, Peggy Weenink of Broadview Heights, Eva Morris of Hollywood, Fla.; and eight grandchildren.

Funeral services Tuesday, 10 a.m., at the Hummel Funeral Home West.

Interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the Hummel Funeral Home West, 3475 Copley Rd., TODAY, 6 to 9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of donor's choice. (Hummel West Golden Rule Funeral Home, 666-1138.)
