Patricia Ann Van Meter
Patricia Ann "Pat" VanMeter, 65, of Petersburg, W.Va., died
Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005 at her home.
Mrs. VanMeter was born Sept. 29, 1939, in Harrisonburg and was the daughter of
the late Carl Edgar Ours and Gladys Louise Hepner Ours.
She graduated from Petersburg High School in 1958 and was a graduate of Shepherd
College. She attended Bethel Pentecostal Church and was a member of 4-H
All-Stars. She was employed by the Grant County Board of Education, was chairman
of the Grant County Democratic Executive Committee and was a member of the Grant
County Moomau Library Board.
Surviving are a son, Parry VanMeter of Petersburg, W.Va.; a daughter, Hope
VanMeter of Manassas; four sisters, Alma Huffman of Petersburg, W.Va., Wanda
Judy of Dorcas, W.Va., Ruth Pack of Roanoke and Pam Detamore of Petersburg,
W.Va.; a brother, Richard "Dick" Ours of Dorcas, W.Va., three grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews.
Pastor Lyle W. Berg Sr. will conduct the funeral 1 p.m. Saturday at the
Schaeffer Funeral Home in Petersburg, W.Va. Burial will be in the Brake Cemetery
in Dorcas, W.Va.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
