Norvell E. Van Meter

Norvell E. Van Meter, 91, Independence, died Feb. 14, 1991, in Fairview Glade, 4600 Selsa Road, Independence. He was born in Alma, Mo., and lived in this area most of his life. Mr. Van Meter worked for the Gustin-Bacon Manufacturing Co. before he retired. Earlier he worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad. He was a member of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church. His wife, Minnie A. Van Meter, died in 1986. Survivors include three sons, Walter Van Me ter, Raytown, Roy Van Meter, Oak Grove, and Kenneth Van Meter, Independence; three daughters, Margaret Sims, Lee's Summit, Betty Bartlett, Harrisonville, and Mary Bryan, Marshfield, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.Young, 85, Kansas City, Kan., died Feb. 13, 1991, at Bethany Medical Center. She was born in Oklahoma City and lived in Kansas City, Kan., most of her life.

Mrs. Young was a member of the University United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a brother, Eugene DiVilbiss, Kansas City.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Porter Chapel; burial in Chapel Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel. The family requests no flowers and suggests contributions to the church or the American Heart Association.
