Norman Dean Van Meter

Norman Dean Van Meter, 68, Lima, died at 11:19 p.m. Aug. 2, 2003, at St.
Rita's Medical Center.

He was born Jan. 24, 1935, in Allen County to McKinley L. and Ruth M.
Winegardner Van Meter, who preceded him in death. On Oct. 29, 1955, he married
Rowena J. Sneary, who survives.

Mr. Van Meter retired from Marathon Electric in 1998. He was a member of
Westminster United Methodist Church for 50 years. He had been attending Perry
United Methodist Church. He enjoyed bluegrass country music.

Survivors also include three daughters, Teresa S. (Steve) Ewing and Connie K.
(Jeff ) Wheeler, both of Harrod, and Barb J. (Dave) Cullar of Uniondale, Ind.;
eight grandchildren, Stacy (Nate) Young, Jason Wheeler, Tonya Ewing, Jared
Wheeler, Tara "Jo" Cullar, Travis Cullar, Krista Ewing and Tyler Cullar; four
great-grandchildren, Alyssa Young, Gracie Young, Taylor Ewing and Carter
Young.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Van Meter.

Services will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Chiles & Sons-Laman, Lewis Chapel.
The Rev. Ken Love will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Westminster
Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
