Nancy J. VanMeter

NANCY J. VANMETER, 83, of Clifton, W.Va., widow of Elmer "Potsie" VanMeter, died Sept. 15, 2004, in Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was born Sept. 12, 1921, in Hartford, WV, a daughter of the late Harley E. Sr. and Dorothy Chapman Powell. She was a housewife and a member of Clifton United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, Mason Chapter #157 and American Legion Auxiliary Smith-Capehart Post #140, New Haven, W.Va. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Bruce Marshall Powell and Harley E. Powell Jr. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Elmer E. Jr. and Barbara VanMeter of Lesage, W.Va., and Randy and Narsa VanMeter of Point Pleasant, W.Va.; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Edward Harris of Gallipolis, Ohio; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Georgianna and Harold Escue of Teays Valley, W.Va., and Isabella and Robert Greer I of Point Pleasant. Funeral 11 a.m. Friday at Foglesong-Tucker Funeral Home, Mason, W.Va., with the Rev. Doreen Adkins officiating; burial in Kirkland Memorial Gardens, near Point Pleasant. Visitation from 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.
