Michael Van Meter

Michael Van Meter, 44, of 1150 Second Ave. S., Wisconsin Rapids, died Monday, Aug. 16, 2004, at Saint Joseph's Hospital's Palliative Care Unit in Marshfield.

Memorial services were at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Ritchay Funeral Home, Wisconsin Rapids. The Rev. David Dahl officiated. Burial will be at a later date in Pioneer Cemetery, town of Saratoga.

Michael was born July 15, 1960, at Riverview Hospital to Larry and Arlene (Struck) Van Meter. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Fred and Margaret Struck, and his paternal grandparents, Lyle and Frances Van Meter. His father, Larry, also preceded him in death.

Michael graduated from Lincoln High School in 1978. He worked at various jobs until becoming disabled. He was a junk collector and resale expert. His most important possession was his telephone. It was his only connection to the outside world.

Survivors include his mother, Arlene Van Meter, Wisconsin Rapids; his sister, Dawn (Stan) Hendricks of Wisconsin Rapids; and his niece and nephew, Jessica and Joshua Hendricks.

Ritchay Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
