Maurice V. (Mike) VanMeter

Maurice V. (Mike), born Sept. 26, 1905 in Mountain View, Ok., died Sunday, Nov. 1, 1987. Moved to OKC at an early age, received his BA and MA degrees from the University of Okla., after which he taught social studies and coached tennis, basketball and football at Kinta, Davis, and Central High School. ""Coach'', as he was affectionately called, was a member of Mayflower Congregational Church, Lambda Chi Epsilon Fraternity, Okla. Iris Society and Hall of Fame of the Audubon Society. Survived by his wife, Bea of the home; stepdaughters, Margo Swift of Moore, Nita Willis, MWC; 2 sisters and 2 brothers, Mrs. Dorothy Garley of Memphis, Mrs. Fern Ward of Muskogee, Judge A.P. VanMeter, OKC and Frank VanMeter, Sapulpa; several nieces and nephews. Graveside service 1pm Wednesday, Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Bill Merritt Bethany
