Mary Buster Van Meter

GALESBURG -- Mary Buster Van Meter, 90, of 675 E. Main St., formerly of Monmouth, died at 3:40 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, at Seminary Manor.

Born Dec. 4, 1908, in Straw, Ky., to Joe T. and Etter Rigdon Buster, she married Isaac Van Meter on Dec. 19, 1925, in Anneta, Ky. He died Dec. 31, 1975. One granddaughter, eight brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.

Surviving are one son, Paul of Galesburg; one daughter, Pauline Shaffer of Kahoka, Mo.; two brothers, Clellon Buster of Franklin, Ind., and John Buster of Falls of Rough, Ky.; two sisters, Jean Wise of Bargersville, Ind., and Betty Jo Meador of Greenwood, Ind.; two grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was an assembler at the former Gale Products Division of Outboard Marine Corp. for 25 years. She retired in 1969. She was of the Baptist faith and was a former member of Women of the Moose and the Eagles Auxiliary.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Donald Lundquist will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the chapel. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens.
