Luther Van Meter

Luther Van Meter, 77, of Elgin died Thursday at Sherman Hospital in Elgin.

He was born Jan. 22, 1914, in Indianapolis, Ind., the son of Seymour and Myrtle Brady Van Meter. He married Lenore Pundt in 1941. He was preceded in death by a brother, J. Roydon Van Meter.

Mr. Van Meter was a graduate of Illinois State University and was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Elgin.

Surviving are his wife, Lenore; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Paula) Hamilton of Pompton Plains, N.J.; three grandchildren; and one brother George B. (Marion) Van Meter of Springfield.

Private family services will be held at Bluff City Cemetery in Elgin.

Announcement of a public memorial service will be made at a later date.

Stout-Freemon Funeral Home, Elgin, is in charge of arrangements.
