Lord Wright VanMeter 

Lord Wright VanMeter was a manager in Ford Motor Co.'s material supply department.

Mr. Wright, 86, retired from Ford in 1971 after 30 years with the company.

He died Sunday at his home in Strongsville. He had Alzheimer's disease.

He was born in Berlin, Germany, and came to the United States when he was 12 years old.

He met his second wife, Eleanor, when he went to St. John and West Shore Hospital in 1987 for bookkeeping help. She was an adviser in the financial department.

Mr. Wright was a coin collector and occasionally displayed his collection at a National City Bank branch in Rocky River.

He liked to travel and had visited Australia, Yosemite National Park and Hawaii in recent years. He and his wife also took bus tours in Ohio and Pennsylvania.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Wright is survived by a son, James of Meadville, Pa.; a daughter, Michelle of Westlake; 10 grandchildren; four brothers; and one sister.

Mr. Wright's first wife, Gwen, died in 1987.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. tomorrow in the Westwood Abbey Room of Sunset Memorial Park, 6265 Columbia Rd., North Olmsted.
