Linnie Van Meter

Graveside services for Linnie Van Meter of Westwego, La., will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Grass Valley. Pastor Jim Redfield of the Penn Valley Seventh Day Adventist Church will officiate the services.

Mrs. Van Meter died Saturday, May 7, at her daughter's home in Westwego, La. She was 95.

She was born July 15, 1909, in Mendon, Mo., to James and Delia (Bryant) Vanmeter. As a child, she lived in various places. She married Lathen Pearl Van Meter on May 22, 1926, in Oklahoma. They settled in Grass Valley in 1940. She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church of Grass Valley. She lived in the same house for 62 years until she moved to live with her daughter in January 2003.

She is survived by her daughter, Ida Pearl DuFrene; 12 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and 17 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lathen; sons L.P. Van Meter, and Billy Van Meter; daughter, Linnie Mae Eaton; grandsons Robert Eaton, Bruce Eaton, Donald Eaton, and Paul B. Prichard.

Arrangements are under the direction of Hooper & Weaver Mortuary.
