Lennis Raymond VanMeter

Lennis Raymond VanMeter, 81, of Oakland City, died Sunday, May 16, 2004 at 3:30 p.m. at VNA Hospice Center in Evansville. He was born on May 2, 1923 in Gibson County to Andrew and Katie (Lefler) VanMeter. He resided for many years in Mackey.

He was retired from Whirlpool Corporation in Evansville after 36 years of service. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Arba VanMeter; sisters Laverne Wells, Dorothy Miller and Vonda Mae VanMeter.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Connie VanMeter of Winslow; a daughter, Ginger Mayo of Lizton; a daughter and son-in-law, Evelyn and Mike Johnson of Indianapolis; a brother, James VanMeter of Somerville; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; seven nephews; and one niece.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, May 19, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Montgomery Cemetery, Rev. Darin D. Nossett officiating. Visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Friends and family will gather at the cemetery for services on Wednesday. Memorial contributions may be given to the VNA Hospice Center in Evansville. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
