29, at Gene Roden's Sons Funeral Home with J. O. Lancaster & C. U. Morrison
officiating. Born in Nakon, Siam (Thailand), a son of Dr. Paul W. & Francis Louise
Crawford Van Metre, he served in the Army during WW II in Italy & North Africa as
captain in the Medical Corps. He attended Rockwell City High School in IA &
graduated from Coe College in Cedar Rapids. He did graduate work at the University
of Chicago. He was a retired hospital administrator, working in South Bend, IN,
Toledo, OH & Portsmouth, NH. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He married
Mary Alice Bridges Morrison Sep. 26, 1974. Surviving are his wife; a son, Dr. John
E. Van Metre of Keokeek, IA; a daughter, Leslie Loving of Rochester, NY; a sister,
Rhoda Butler of Cedar Rapids, IA; these step-children, David Morrison of Honey
Grove, Jimmie Don Morrison of Independence, MO, Alvin Morrison, Shelley Morrison,
Lonnie Ray Morrison & Ronnie Clay Morrison, all of Paris; 26 grandchildren & 9
great-grandchildren.'
