Helen V. Vanmetre

 

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Helen V. Vanmetre, 85, of Martinsburg, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 1998, at Heartland of Martinsburg.

Born July 2, 1913, in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Thomas Henry and Bettie Myers Vanmetre.

She was a graduate of West Virginia Beauty College.

She worked as a beautician.

She was a member of Christ Reformed Church and United Church Women.

She was a member of American Red Cross; national and local American Association of Retired Persons and City Hospital Auxiliary.

She volunteered for more than 20 years at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, King's Daughters Hospital and City Hospital.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Alice, Mary and Agnes Vanmetre; six brothers, Harry, Thomas, James, William, Charles and Robert Vanmetre; and a nephew.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home, 327 W. King St., Martinsburg. Dr. Thomas E. Hartshorn will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery, Shepherdstown, W.Va.
