Gloria Van Meter

Gloria (Marois) Van Meter, 59, of Keller, Texas, died April 14 at her home. She was the wife of Hart Van Meter.
Mrs. Van Meter was born Jan. 10, 1946, in Bethel, daughter of Louisa French and the late Walter Smith.
She graduated from Western Connecticut State University in Danbury with a degree in social work and worked for the First Congregational Church in New Milford for several years.
She was a member of the New Milford League of Woman Voters for many years before she moved to Texas in 1999. There she won awards for her gardens and did volunteer work at her church.
Besides her husband and mother of Texas, Mrs. Van Meter is survived by her former husband, John Marois of New Milford; a son, Edward Marois and his wife Anne of New Milford; two daughters, Linda Roberts of New Milford and Carol Jones and her husband Rusty of Texas; two stepsons, Benjamin of North Carolina and James of Arizona; two sisters, Janice Regan of Walton, N.Y., and Pauline Petersen and her husband Ronald of Bethel; seven grandchildren, Katherine and Kyle Marois, Jennafer and Megan Roberts of New Milford and Nicole, Jessica and Michael Jones of Texas. She was predeceased by a foster brother, Charles Butler.
A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church of New Milford tomorrow (Saturday) at 3 p.m.
