Gladys A. Van Meter

Former Auburn resident Gladys A. Van Meter of Des Moines died Dec. 3, 2004, at the Masonic Retirement Home in Des Moines. She was 96.

Born July 13, 1908, in Seattle, she lived in Auburn for 60 years.

She operated Van's Sports Center in Auburn for a few years.

She is survived by her son, Robert Van Meter of New Mexico; daughters, Donna Knudtson of Auburn, Bunny Grey of Port Orchard, Jean Shuck of Spokane, Jo Yazzolino of Federal Way, and Charlene Van Meter of Alaska; 17 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Price-Helton Funeral Chapel in Auburn. Burial will be at Mountain View Cemetery in Auburn.
