Gerald Van Meter

Gerald "Van" Van Meter, 77, formerly of Oak Park, and late of Naperville, died Tuesday, July 22, 1997, at ManorCare Health Services in Naperville.

He was born Sept. 26, 1919.

Mr. Van Meter served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a retired State Farm Agent after more than 40 years of service.

He was a former member of the Oak Park Country Club.

He is survived by a son, William (wife Patricia) Van Meter of Darien; daughter, Kelly (Mrs. Michael) Berg of Naperville; four grandchildren, Glenn and Patricia Venzke, Erin Van Meter, and Caitlyn Berg.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; and a daughter, Bonnie Venzke.

Visitation hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 24, at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home, 44 S. Mill St., Naperville, where a prayer service will begin at 8 p.m. with the Rev. William Ryan officiating.

Interment will be private.
