FREIDA LOUISE VAN METER

Freida L. Van Meter, 85, of Shawnee, KS (formerly of Kansas City, KS), passed away August 18, 2003, at the Villa St. Francis. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, August 21, 2003, at Maple Hill Funeral Home. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday with an Eastern Star service to be held at 7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Parkinson' s Foundation.

Freida was born June 21, 1918, in Ray County, MO. She worked as a sales representative for Montgomery Wards, retiring in 1989. Freida attended Emerson Park Christian Church and was a member of True Kindred and Eastern Star, where she was Past Worthy Matron. Preceding her in death was her husband Laddie in 1974. Survivors include son Jerry Van Meter; daughter Janice Parlin and her husband Merton; sisters Grace Wrisinger, Emma MacDonald, Sally Mennick, Betsy Hodson, and Doris Calvert; 8 grandchildren; and 14 greatgrandchildren.
