Flora Van Meter

VAN METER-Flora (Flo) Van Meter R.N., a devoted Registered Nurse, passed away peacefully at her home in Temple City, CA January 19, 2010 at age 89. Born in Taylorville, Illinois, the forth of six children of Louis and Elmina Menichetti. Married James Benjamin Van Meter in 1947 and made Springfield, Illinois their home. Family later moved to Temple City, CA in 1964. Flo worked at local hospitals in the area. Retired in 1990 from Methodist Hospital in Arcadia, Ca. Continued Nursing with home health care, relatives and friends until 2004. Flor graduated St. Johns Nursing College in Springfield, Illinois Class of 1939. She was a registered Nurse for 61 years. Flo loved Nursing and the many challenges it composed. Flo a Mother and Grandmother, devoted wife and great Italian cook. Flo's in terest, Nursing, family, horse racing. She was preceded in death by her husband James Sr. She is survived by her daughter Carolyn Zeigler of Pasadena; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; son James Jr., of San Diego. She was a beautiful Italian woman with a smile that could light up a room. A memorial Mass will be held at St. Philip the Apostle 151 S. Hill St. Pasadena, Ca May 27th at 4:00 P.M.
