Essie M. Van Meter

TALLMADGE -- Essie M. Van Meter, 64, passed away Dec. 19, 1992 at St. Thomas Hospital.

Mrs. Van Meter was born in Streby, W. Va., and had lived in Hartville and Akron before moving to Tallmadge in 1985. She had been a practical nurse and had helped many people during their time of sickness. She was a member of the Maplewood Baptist Church in Stow.

She was preceded in death by son, Douglas Van Meter, and brother, Paul Sites. She is survived by daughters, Velma Moore of West Virginia, Virginia Lee Wilson and Gayle Van Meter of Tallmadge; sons, Roscoe Van Meter of Tallmadge and Dennis Van Meter of Canton; 12 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; sisters, Thelma Goldizen of Cabins, W. Va., Mary Slaughter of Akron.

Funeral services at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, at Hillegas Funeral Home 17 Southwest Ave., Tallmadge, Rev. Bernard Christy officiating. Interment at Crown Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday, 7 to 9 p.m. The family has requested that memorials be given to the Harmony Baptist Church of Tallmadge Bus Ministry, 1127 Southeast Ave., Tallmadge 44278.
