Elva "Red" Albert Van Meter

Funeral services will be Thursday, February 27, 2003 for 88 year old Elva "Red" Albert Van Meter of Chester, Il who died Monday, February 24, 2003 at Three Springs Lodge Nursing Home in Chester, IL.

Born April 27, 1914 in Rockwood, IL, the son of Charles and Minnie (Tindall) Van Meter. He married Lela Kontz on May 26, 1942 in Perryville, MO and she survives.

Also surviving is two sons, Gary Van Meter and Larry Van Meter both of Las Vegas, NV. One daughter, Janet Saenz of Las Vegas, NV. Two sisters, Lela Presswood and Vera Winterberg both of Granite City, IL. One sister in law, Myrtle Van Meter of Cahokia, IL. One granddaughter and one great grandson also survive.

His parents and four brothers preceded him in death.

Friends may call after 5pm Wednesday, February 26, 2003 at the Schroeder McClure Funeral Chapel in Chester, IL.

Funeral services for Elva Van Meter will be Thursday, February 27, 2003 at the Schroeder McClure Funeral Chapel in Chester, IL with Rev. Mark Willig officiating. Burial will be in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to St. John Lutheran Church’s Debt Fund or Radio Fund.
