Elizabeth A. Van Metre, 73, died Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at home. A native of Throope, Pa., she was a Peninsula resident for the past 37 years. Mrs. Van Metre was a member of St. Jeromes Catholic Church and was a member and Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of American Legion Post No. 368.

Preceded in death by her husband, Harvey T. Van Metre, she is survived by two sons, Frank Grassi and his wife, Pam, of Newport News and Glenn Van Metre of New Brunswick, N.J.; three sisters, Rose Voros and her husband, John, of Newport News, Ann Dixon and Mary Mion, both of Clifton, N.J; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, at Weymouth Funeral Home. A Mass of the Resurrection will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at St. Jeromes Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to your favorite charity.
