Dorothy Marie Van Meter
Dorothy Marie Van Meter, 77, of Upper Tract, W.Va., died Sunday, June 25,
2006, at Grant County Nursing Home in Petersburg, W.Va.
Mrs. Van Meter was born Dec. 5, 1928, in Upper Tract, and was a daughter of the
late Hughie Helmick and Nina Alt Helmick.
She was employed at the Franklin Garment Company and Hanover Shoe Company. She
was a member of Brushy Run Church of God.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Lester William Van Meter, on
March 27, 1988, and by her second husband, Lossie Van Meter, on April 19, 2006.
Survivors include four sons, Lester David Van Meter of Petersburg, W.Va., and
Ronnie Van Meter, Donnie Van Meter and Michael T. Van Meter, all of Upper Tract;
two grandsons, whom she raised, Lester D. Van Meter and Michael L. Van Meter of
Upper Tract; a niece, whom she raised, Cathy Pence of Franklin, W.Va.; three
stepsons; two stepdaughters; three sisters, Rose Hines and Wanda Brill, both of
Petersburg, W.Va., and Katherine Van Meter of Burlington, W.Va.; a brother, Jim
Helmick of Petersburg; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
The Rev. Bruce Cosner will conduct the funeral 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Kimble
Funeral Home in Franklin, W.Va. Burial will be at Kline Cemetery in Upper Tract,
W.Va.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 this evening at the funeral home.
