Don Lois Van Meter

Don Lois Van Meter Sr., died Aug. 11, 2002 at Sutter Lakeside Hospital. Born March 1, 1935 in Oklahoma, he was 67 years old.

A resident of Nice he lived in Lake County for the past seven years. Prior to that he resided in Fort Bragg. He was a machinist with the United States Envelope Company for 18 years. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, National Association of Archers, and a past member of the San Pablo Police Reserves. Mr. Van Meter loved hunting, fishing, water skiing and the outdoors. He helped out with the Boy Scouts of America.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Julia Van Meter of Nice; sons, Don Van Meter Jr. of Fort Bragg, Dennis Van Meter of Willits and David Van Meter, also of Fort Bragg; daughter, Wanda Egelhof of Fernley, Nev.; brothers, Arthur Van Meter of Bonney Lake, Wash., Bobby Van Meter of El Cajon; sisters, Joann Van Meter of Southern California, and Pat of Florida. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Barbara Van Meter.

Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, Aug. 15, 2002 at 1 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Lakeport. Visitation will be held in the relief society room from 12:30 p.m. until service time.

Burial will follow the service at the Upper Lake Cemetery.

Arrangements were made by Chapel of the Lakes Mortuary, Lakeport.
