CHRISTINE VAN METER

WASHBURN -- Christine Van Meter, 70, of 108 Main St. died Tuesday, April 19, 1994, at Parkridge Hospital in Chattanooga, Tenn.

Born April 1, 1924, in Grundy County, Tenn., to James and Myrtle Lankford Messick, she married Roy C. Van Meter. He survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Elmer Stanley of Washburn, Clifford Van Meter of Chillicothe and William Stanley of Gainesville, Ga.; five daughters, Glenda Christy of Apison, Tenn., Judy Stoens and Debra Van Meter, both of Washburn, Barbara Clark of San Antonio and Carolyn Nauman of Metamora; one sister, Mae Thomas of Monteagle, Tenn.; 24 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. One daughter, Katherine Van Meter, one son, Freddie Stanley, one sister and two brothers preceded her in death. She was a member of Washburn Methodist Church, where services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. George Knox will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in Linn-Mount Vernon Cemetery. Arrangements are by Ries-McKitrick and Newton Mortuary, Washburn Chapel.
