Benjamin Stonestreet Van Meter

Age 71, prominent farmer of Shelby County, died at home on U.S. 60, three miles east of Shelbyville, after an illness of more than a year; native of Winchester, son of the late
Lewis Marshall and Ann Moore VanMeter; family moved to the Mulberry neighborhood and owned the farm now belonging to Mr. and Mrs. R.T. Taylor; had lived for past forty years on the farm where he died; graduate of the old Central University, Danville [sic], member of Presbyterian Church; survivors: wife, Elizabeth Hickman VanMeter, daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth Wright, Los Angeles, CA, Mrs. Frank B. Nelson, Pittsburgh, PA, Mrs. Ann Tilson, Lexington, sons, Ben VanMeter, Jr., Albion, PA, Marshall VanMeter, Paris, two sisters, Mrs. Sallie V. Bruce, Anderson, SC, Mrs. Joe K. Davis, Dade City, FL, brother, Matt VanMeter, Orchard, CO.
