ANNA VAN METER

TREMONT - Anna L. Van Meter, 76, of 408 W. Madison St. died at 12:18 p.m. Monday, Jan. 15, 2001, at Methodist Medical Center in Peoria.

Born June 20, 1924, in Morehouse, Mo., to Edward and Rose Gregory Steinkamp, she married William R. Van Meter on Jan. 28, 1945, in Long Beach, Calif. He survives.

Also surviving are one son, Thomas of Peoria; one daughter, Dianna (and Jack) West of Tremont; one granddaughter; and one great-grandson.

Three sisters preceded her in death.

She was a certified nursing assistant at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria for many years and at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights, retiring in 1984.

She was a member of Presbyterian Church in Greenville and attended Tremont Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Baptist Women and the Energizers group.

She also was a member of Tremont Homemakers Extension Association.

Private family services will be Thursday. The Rev. David Craig will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Davis Mortuary in Tremont. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.

Memorials may be made to Tremont Baptist Church or to Rescue 702 in Tremont.
