Pickaway Homestead Deed

Hear all men by these present that we Homer Bishop and Elizabeth Bishop his wife of Linn County State of Iowa, for and in consideration of the sum of twenty Eight hundred dollars $2800 to us in hand paid by Josina Van Metre of the same place the receipt where is hereby acknowledged, do hereby sell and convey unto the said Josina Van Metre, the following property, namely  the southwest-quarter (1/4) of the Southwest-quarter (1/4) of section numbered thirty three (33) in Township numbered Eighty three (83) North, range numbered eleven (11) West.  Also the Northwest-quarter (1/4) of the Southwest-quarter (1/4) of the aforesaid section and in the same township and Range.  Also the Northwest quarter of the Northeast quarter of section thirty two (32) in the aforesaid township and Range.  Also the southeast quarter of the northeast quarter, the East half of the Southeast quarter and the northwest quarter of the southeast of section numbered thirty two (32) in the township and Range before named all of which premise above described are situated in the county of Benton in said State and we do hereby covenant with the said Josina Van Metre and with her heirs and assigns that we are lawfully seized in fee of said premises that they are free from incumbencies that we have  good right and lawful Authority to sell and convey the same as Aforesaid, and that we will forever Warrant and deferred the said premises to the said Josina Van Metre heirs and Assigns against the lawful claims of all persons witness our hands December 13th A. D. 1855.

The State of Iowa, Linn County to wit in this 13th day of December A. D. 1855,  before me the presiding Notary Public in and for said County in person came Homer Bishop and Elizabeth Bishop his wife, to me personally known to be the individual persons whose names are signed to the forgoing deed as grantors and acknowledge the Execution therof to be their voluntary act and deed.
